New to Saskatoon: First-Month Essentials
Transit fares, city leisure centres, the central library and the Leisure Guide - every link confirmed by loading the page directly.
Getting the fare right
Saskatoon Transit's buses are the main way to cross the city without a car, and fares cost less on a reloadable card than in cash. Check the fare page before your first ride so you know what a single trip, a day pass or a monthly pass costs. Some riders, including students and seniors, qualify for reduced fares.
Indoor recreation without a gym contract
The city runs indoor leisure centres with pools, tracks and gyms, and you can pay per visit instead of buying a membership. The seasonal Leisure Guide lists registered programs, from swimming lessons to fitness classes. Popular programs fill early, so look through the guide as soon as a season opens.
A library card goes further than books
The Frances Morrison Central Library downtown anchors the Saskatoon Public Library system, with branches spread across the city. A card also unlocks digital borrowing, programs and study space. Setting it up is one of the easiest first-month wins, and it costs nothing as a resident.
